Car accidents in Atlanta
Most injury cases start here. How fault is proven, and how insurance actually pays.

How fault is decided
Georgia is an at-fault state: the driver who caused the crash, and their insurer, pay for the harm. Fault is proven with the police report, photos, vehicle damage, witnesses, video and sometimes vehicle data.
| Crash type | Usual question |
|---|---|
| Rear-end | Was the driver following too closely or distracted? |
| Left turn | Did the turning driver yield to oncoming traffic? |
| Lane change | Did the driver check that the move was safe? |
| Red light | Who had the signal? Cameras and witnesses matter. |
Where the money comes from
- The at-fault driver’s liability coverage (Georgia minimums are low).
- Your own uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) coverage.
- Medical payments (MedPay) coverage, if you have it.
- Other responsible parties, like an employer whose driver was working.
First week checklist: get medical care, get the report number, photograph everything, and don’t give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurer before getting advice.
